One of the best horse I've had the privilege to offer for sale. You will drive thousands of miles looking for horse like this guy. Newt is a TRUE BLUE ROAN with a solid black nose & BLACK POINTS. He has lived out in the pasture all summer & has not faded. He's kept this stunning, beautiful color.
NEWT's HISTORY. ... Newt is a 11 year old AQHA GELDING, by an own son of Shining Spark. He has had ONLY ONE owner from the small town of Nortonville Ky. Newt was bought as a yearling from the famous Hall of Fame Cowboy Bill Smith WYO Sale held only once a year in Wyoming. Newt has spent the rest of life at several ranch trainers improving his skills. Thousands of miles in the mountains & down the trails. He has spent the last couple of years going back & forth from Kentucky to Colorado to trail ride. He been used in Colorado on a hunting ranch to pack the elk out of the mountain & to pack guest up and down the trails. Newt owner has nothing but great things to say about him, but has decided he's hit the age where he wants to ride gaited horse and wagons pulled by mules. This is AMAZING, ONCE IN A LIFETIME kind of horses that rarely gets offered for sale.
I have used Newt the past several months for beginner kids (ages 10 to 15) & adult horsemanship lessons, swimming which he loves, tracking and roping the dummy, trail riding, small cross-country jumping, and shows (4H, Open Fun, Working Cow Horse, and Ranch), ponying million dollar Thoroughbreds at the race track, teaching babies to lead in a colt starting program, pasture roping, & team roping (headside).
Not only is he a great western horse, but he rides English as well and started going over 2 foot jumps.. He will excel in Equtation, Eventing, Dressage, Horsemanship, Ranch Riding, Trail competition, Queen Contest, Ranch Trail, Roping and many other events.
This gelding is broke like a show horse, but has the mind set of an old using horse that you would find out west. Newt can do flying lead changes, neckreins with the slightest of ease and lope off from a standstill and get his leads everytime. He also leg yields, side passes, yeilds his hind quarters, and works a gate with ease. Newt is a beautiful mover and hits the ground softly and smoothly. Which makes him great for someone with back issues. He is a great companion to hit the trail alone with. Newt spent many weekends tied to a picket line or hobbled for over night camping trips.. He's rode 1,000s of miles with saddle bags and wagon teams. He will most definitely KEEP YOU SAFE! He will cross any rough terrain you point him at; water, ditches, bridges, logs and no hill is to steep!
This Tall drink of water standing 15.1 hands 1300lbs, but don't let his height intimidate you. With just a snap of a finger he will side pass to a log, gate, picnic table, or rock for mounting and dismounting. He also stands great for mounting from the ground. He stands great for the farrier, bathing, and clipping. Newt loads into the trailer with just a point of a finger and hauls great.
