Festus is the type of young gelding that we all look for. He's as sweet as they come, built to work, has a willing attitude, quiet disposition, and is a fantastic mover. With 90 days of professional training by the end of the sale, you can be assured that Festus will have the absolute best foundation and will be ready to start steering in the direction of whichever discipline you desire. His gaits are smooth and effortless. Festus has a beautiful small trot, extends out to cover lots of ground in his long trot, and floats in his lope. He knows how to break at the pole and is getting more solid by the day on holding a collected frame without reminder. Counter-bend, pivot on the forehand and haunches, back, side pass, this fella knows the drill and has the buttons down pat.
If you don't like a horse that wants to be with you then Festus isn't going to be your guy. Unless he's eating his grain (he loves his food), there isn't a time that anyone can walk by his stall without him sticking his head out for a scratch. If he's turned out, he'll follow you along the fence and you can bet that he will always meet you at the gate. I've absolutely loved having this guy in my training program and wish that they were all more like him!
Drop the lead and hose this guy down, he loves a bath! He stands like a rock for all the basics (bathes, trimming, grooming, saddling, etc.). He also loads, unloads and hauls like a champ. Festus has great ground manners and stays quiet. He currently gets rode 5 days a week, which usually gives him Saturday and Sunday off. When Monday rolls around, we saddle up at the trailer, I step on him right there and ride to the arena. No lounging needed, and no funny business. This colt has a fantastic mind!
