A horse that can do it all. He has not only been a barn favorite, but he has also been my very own personal favorite (and I am VERY PICKY). Allow me to tell you about this unicorn we call Henry James. Henry James is just the right height, standing a hair north of 15 hands. He is rich in color, black all over with chocolate accents. He has a mane and tail that most only dream about. Oh, and let me tell you about his personality. He is quiet and calm, a true steady Eddie. He will come when you call his name, usually at a trot! He has a funny, curious personality. But being respectful is at the top of his list. Henry James is easy to get along with, for both horses and people! He is also durable – or may I say wise enough to take care of himself. There is not one blemish on this beautiful boy, and he makes good decisions to keep it that way! Henry could live in a junk yard with a three ring circus next door and would still be injury free and quietly observing all the entertainment with an amused look on his face. Henry is kind and patient for the farrier. He is easy to shoe, but honestly, unless we are heading out into really rocky terrain, Henry James is perfectly fine barefoot. He has never taken a tender step and has proven himself to be as tough as a summer day is long. Henry is just a good-looking fellow. He seems to be able to stay in a world show condition on a round bale in a dry lot. He has lived in a box stall and has also spent months turned out with a herd of other horses. Either way, he is happy and content and easy to keep weight on. Wherever he is, he seems to be as neat as your granny at a Sunday brunch! Which is worth a lot at the end of a long day of cleaning stalls! All of these aspects are just the gravy on top, but let me tell you how he is to use and enjoy… Henry James rides both western and English or just climb aboard, bareback, in a halter if you need a therapeutic walk to bring you back to what matters most. We have taken him over down trees and cross rails a handful of times, which he jumps with grace and beauty! And ohhh, have you seen him pull a buggy? He is the easiest horse I have ever driven, and boy, does he look elegant - he can level up your Thanksgiving traditions or blow your Pinterest level wedding out of the water! No worries about traffic - we were asked to use him for a commercial on the down town streets, and he acted like the true gentleman he is. Henry James will ride one handed or two in just about any bit you like, but if you ask him what his very favorite is, he will tell you a smooth snaffle bit ridden two-handed. To add to this very long list of amazing things about Henry James, he is good with being ridden every day or just as great with time off - no worries, we have tried it and we know him well! Rather, it be a week off or 6 months off, he will pick up where you left at, if not be even better than what you remember. He is a quick study. I taught him to lay down in one day - he doesn't lay down as seamlessly as a camel on command, but I promise it is adorable how he grunts when he wallers down to his belly. Can you tell yet how much I truly love this horse? I really do. We are only listing him here because I want what is best for him - I want him to be someone's main man. My career revolves around showing Versatility Ranch Horse shows with the American Quarter Horse Association. While I know Henry is amazing, he doesn't fit in that box. I am just too immersed in the AQHA show industry for Henry James to have the spotlight that he deserves. So I am hoping his forever family finds him here. You will see it all in his video, so please take the time to watch it if his pictures and write-up speak to you. Henry James rides, drives, and does tricks. He is unfazed and very entertained by all obstacles - logs, water crossings, drags, ropes, cattle, tarps, hula hoops, and a big bouncy ball. He is all I have described and more. Please call if he sounds like the horse you have been searching for - he is truly a dream come true.
