The ultimate guest horse! This breathtaking horse is a 7-year-old Percheron/QHx gelding standing a sturdy 17hh. Silver was put together right — he’s got curves in all the right places, he is quite substantial, making him great for a variety of different riders, and his brain is simply unbeatable! He is broke to ride Western, English, bareback, and broke to drive single or double. He will lay down on command to mount or dismount! Although Silver is a big boy in every way, he is able to be athletic and has one of the cutest jumps in the barn. This guy has blown us away with not only his beauty, but his quiet, unfaltering mind, and we can guarantee he will do the same wherever he goes! Under saddle, Silver is hands-down one of the most fun and safe horses to ride! He’s so incredible — we have even ridden him bridleless at the walk, trot, and canter. He’s well educated with walk-to-canter transitions, he neck reins and direct reins, he moves off of leg, and he’s adjustable at all three gaits. His trot and canter are some of the most comfortable we’ve ever ridden — incredibly easy to sit — and at the canter he will make you feel like you’re on top of the world! He responds well to voice cues and will stop on a dime with just a “whoa” or by sitting back. He is fun for any level of rider because he does not get upset if you make a mistake or flop around, and he has enough buttons to keep things fun for someone more advanced. He is more of a push ride, and you can have plenty of leg on him; however, he’s always responsive when you ask him to go and will carry himself very well. This guy is so well balanced, steady, and willing to please. He is even able to canter little circles in both directions and leg-yield at all three gaits. He’s one you could take into the dressage ring tomorrow, and we don’t doubt he’d clean up the ribbons. On the trail, Silver keeps the same steady mentality. He’ll pack anyone you put on him with reliability, a sure foot, and a happy attitude. He’s the same horse off property as he is at home- and he’s the same horse EVERY time you pull him out. This handsome man has been everywhere — from cantering through open fields, going up and down windy wooded trails, through creeks, over bridges, and through tunnels — he’s even ridden right into town and through the drive-thru! You can take him to the grocery store, tie him up while you shop, and come back out to find him waiting patiently. He is unflappable, sturdy, and will lead, follow, or go anywhere you put him in the group. He doesn’t mind if another horse rides too close to him and seems to get along with everyone. Silver has been out on multiple hunter paces with us this past fall, and he would make an incredible candidate for fox hunting. This gelding is extremely honest to all the jumps, whether it be logs, coops, or even the silly inflatable kinds — point him in the right direction, and he will take care of everything else. He has also been cross-country schooling with us and proved himself to be extremely athletic and cute with his form and knees. He did the ditch combination with no hesitation — and if you are familiar with how difficult that is for some horses, that says a lot in itself! He is so big that when he takes a larger jump it feels like you’re popping over a crossrail. He’s jumped some sizable 3’–3’3” coops and could likely even do bigger! This guy will give you a feel like you’re floating on air, and his confidence truly will make anyone a better rider! In the barn, Silver is really just an oversized puppy dog. He loves people, loves being brushed, and loves getting any type of attention! Most importantly, he has good manners in his stall, to tack up, and on the ground. This giant love bug is the type of horse that will meet you in the pasture when he sees you coming- and is always happy to spend quality time with his person. Once you’re done riding him, he will follow you anywhere like a puppy — no lead rope required! He loads right into the trailer, gets along with everyone, and is genuinely such a fun horse to have in the barn. Staying true to his typical draft nature, the one area Silver could still use some work on is picking up his feet. Our farrier has used stocks with him, because it's easier on his back; however, even he said Silver has one of the best temperaments, and with just a couple more sessions and some practice, he wouldn’t need them anymore. This is something we are continuing to work on until he leaves. Special ones of his size, athletic ability, and incredible temperament do not come around very often — he is truly a once-in-a-lifetime type of horse. We have all fallen in love with him at our barn and cannot say enough good things about him. He will be your best friend, and the kind of partner you’ll never EVER be able replace.
