Das Quarter Pony ist eine noch junge Rasse, welche ihren Ursprung in den USA hat. Hier wurde in den sechziger Jahren die Zucht aufgenommen. Dabei muss ein Quarter Pony als mindestens einen Elternteil ebenfalls ein Quarter Pony, Quarter Horse, Paint Horse oder Appaloosa nachweisen können.
