14hh Quarter pony gelding
7yrs old
coggins in hand
He has currently been on the back burner for several months.
This is my 7yr old Gelding, Ronin, show name of Call Me Daddy. He is not papered to my knowledge.
I bought him as a Quarter horse but size wise he would be considered a Quarter Pony. I have had him almost two years. He is the perfect size for adults and kids both. He's the kind of pony/horse you wouldn't have to worry about outgrowing, as long as you don't grow like a tree or cannonball. I am 5'5 and he fits me very well.

He is completely under saddle, all he needs is miles. He rides like a youngin, he rides a bit wiggly direction wise sometimes, but that is fixed with time and miles. He rides very well in a side-pull or hackamore, I have not found a bit he really likes. Will ride in a bit but does not prefer. Absolutely no buck, bite, kick or rear. Good brakes and a smooth walk, trot, and canter. Very much wants to please, but needs to connect and be comfortable with his rider.
He had a month of professional training at the Hunter/Jumper barn I work at. He settled into the environment incredibly well, and seems to crave routine. He was stalled during the day and out at night, and stalls very well. While he was there I jumped cross rails and up to one foot on him. He seems to really enjoy and excel at jumping, and I had planned to train him into it and keep him. He rides walk/trot/canter, but hasn't had as much work at the canter. Stands like a rock for mounting and will keep standing as long as you ask. Picks up his left lead reasonably well but is a bit more sticky on his right. I didn't have much time to work with him on that, as he was only at my barn for one month and I do not have an arena at home.

While he was at my barn he was at two shows and I rode him in one. He was not fazed by the show environment at all, despite it being our Halloween show which is the biggest show of the year. In the show he placed first, second, and third in his classes. One class was a costume class where he was in the arena with around 20 other horses, all in flappy and crazy costumes. He couldn't care less.
Rides well in arena, even with other horses. I have only trail ridden him a handful of times but he did good. He has a very level head in new environments and the second you put his halter on he's 100% focused and pays no mind to other horses at all.

Stands straight tied and cross tied. Used to have problems tying. He would get mentally overwhelmed and pull back, but he has not done that for months now. Stands for farrier and is easy to deworm. UTD on coggins. He has been barefoot the whole time I've had him and he has excellent hard feet and never gone lame. Easy keeper, used to be only on pasture with the occasional feed, and hay in winter. When he was at training he was fed pellets twice a day and is now on one scoop of sweet feed a day. Gets along with my dog very well and they literally eat grass together. Isn't bothered by chickens, ducks, geese, or Guinea fowl, all of which were in abundance at my barn. Gets along well with other horses, likes teasing them as he has a pony mindset in a lot of things, but knows his place. I keep him with geldings only, as he was a bit pushy with my brothers mare when she went into heat, but she was most of the problem.

At home he had a hard time standing for a bath, but once he was at my barn he stood perfect in crossties, for very long baths and grooming. I messed around for hours with him in crossties especially when I was working on his Halloween costume and he stood calmly with any fuss whatsoever, even when I put pants and suspenders on him. He needs some work with flyspray, the sound scares him. Take a few minutes and then he'll stand without a problem but will have a problem with it again the next time. He was also sometimes is nervous when I put hoof oil or ThrushBuster on his feet, I think its the smell. Once he got used to it he was perfectly fine. He can be hard to catch if you throw him in a big pasture and don't touch him much. After a few days at my barn he fell into routine and would come right up to you to be caught even when it was not time for him to go in to eat. He is very food motivated, once he decides he likes something. Calmly introduce him to things, show him your not hurting him and he picks up super fast.
He lunges both ways very well, stopping and turning with hindquarter yields. Flexes well. Have done much groundwork and desensitization with him, but he will probably need a little refresher as he has not been in consistent work since November. Great mind on him, he thinks. Needs his person to guide him quietly through things and he tries his very best to please.
Loads and trailers perfectly. Respects wooden fencing, and electric fencing when it is turned on. He is very good at carefully stepping through the electrical tape when it is turned off to get to new grass.

He does best in consistent work. Only a week or two into a month of being in 5days a week work he became very relaxed and chill. I have not been able to work him almost at all due to health issues and it’s not fair to him. Hence me finally making the decision to find a new home for him. I have not been riding much at all since November, but one month of weekday work will bring him right back to where he was, and this I know for a fact.

**He needs someone who knows what they're doing. I'd say advanced, or intermediate if working with trainer. He's not complicated, he just needs someone who is confident and can read him. I'm selling him because he is not a good fit for me, we are both very emotionally sensitive, me the most, and he picks up on his person's feelings and level of confidence. As a result of a head injury last year I have recurring balance issues, and as a result I have lost an incredible amount of my confidence, and it is not fair to him. He has worked so well for everyone else who has ridden him, so I am definitely the problem. He deserves someone who he can click with and work well with, and unfortunately I do not think I can be that for him. He is an incredible horse, very athletic and has so much potential especially in the show environment. I also barrel raced him a little and again, if worked with on something like that would do really well. He's a very good all around potential horse.
His ideal situation I think would be a barn where a lot goes on and were he can be showed, as he really settled into my barn and became so relaxed in that environment. I think he would make a very good lesson pony in the future or even currently as long as the rider is confident and knows what they are doing.
Text me if you have any questions, or would like more photos/videos of him. I have an ungodly amount.
*please text before calling, as I do not usually pick up calls from unknown numbers*
**He is only going to a good home where I think he would be a good fit.
